There are many opportunities that come across my desk. Many of these are positions, jobs or projects related to web design and Internet programming opportunities. Some of these opportunities are for pay and some are volunteer. Many of these opportunities are informal and unposted therefore they don't last long and can come at any time from many different sources. These opportunities are open to students of any DMACC IT related degree. It is also open to past and present students of these DMACC programs. If you already have a job please be forewarned that those in the process of looking for employment and opportunity will get preference. If you are interested in being referred for opportunities in internships or web design/programming or Internet programming projects I need the following things from you:
1. A MEMO to me indicating the types of things that you would like to do. Whether or not you are willing to look at a volunteer job. Anything else that you believe I should know about you and your skills that will encourage me to refer you for a position. This memo should also contain contact information that I can use and provide to potential employers.
2. A COVER LETTER that I can pass on to the perspective project manager. This should address your skills and abilities and interests that relate to this field. Basically this tells the potential project manager why they should talk to you about their project. This should not be aimed at a specific project, more about you and your skills, experience and background. I need this in both written and paper forms. I can print them if necessary. If you want them on different stationary or paper then please supply those to me.
3. A current RESUME that I can pass on to a perspective project manager. I need this in both written and paper formats. I can print them if necessary. If you want them on different stationary or paper then please supply those to me.
I will try to refer people to opportunities that match their strengths and characteristics whenever possible. This is a win-win situation for all of us. It provides you an opportunity to practice your skills and expand your experience. It also provides the community with more awareness of DMACC's ability to meet their business needs.
