Assignment:    DEFINE E-COMMERCE

Introduction:

This assignment asks you to define E-Commerce in your own words.  It is an opportunity for you to describe how you define E-Commerce.  As part of that definition discuss how you see E-Commerce being used in today's business place.  What are some of the advantages of using E-Commerce in business.  Identify and discuss any disadvantages you see in using E-Commerce in a business environment.  Use your own thoughts and experiences in describing E-Commerce and as you address the related issues listed below.

Issues:

  1. Find three or more definitions of E-Commerce online and put them in your paper.
  2. What other words are often used along with E-Commerce, include their definitions.
  3. Define E-Commerce in your own words.
  4. Discuss how you have engaged in E-Commerce.
  5. Identify and discuss any advantages you can think of offered by E-Commerce.
  6. Identify and discuss any disadvantages you can think of with E-Commerce.
  7. What do you think are the primary issues facing E-Commerce?
  8. What do you think of the future of E-Commerce and Why?

Grading:

Please keep in mind that there are no right or wrong answers to these questions.  You will be evaluated on how well you state your position and the thought processes you display in responding to the questions.  You will also be evaluated on your grammar, punctuation and presentation.  

Objective:

The purpose of this assignment is to allow you to focus on your current definition of E-Commerce.  It will also allow the instructor to form a knowledge baseline to assist in structuring the classroom discussions and to determine individual growth of the student throughout the course.

The second primary purpose of this writing assignment is to enhance your communication skills.  One of the weakest areas exhibited by many of today's workforce is poor communication skills.   This is an opportunity for you to expand your capabilities and improve your writing skills.
