BSEN307 E-Commerce Website II

Irish Hair Final Project

Back to BSEN307 Class Home Page Spring2001 Classes

Objective:

This exercise is based upon the basic Irish Hair website that you have developed during the course of this class.  At this point we are ready to do the finish work.  All of your basic content should be completed and your pages created.  You are now ready to finish those pages using the concepts discussed throughout this course.

Instructions:

Your assignment is to finish the Irish Hair website by incorporating the use of styles sheets to control the presentation of the content and to use DHTML activity to increase the user interaction and appeal of the site.  You will be evaluated on how well you incorporate these concepts into your website and the effect they give  the final product you have created.   I would recommend that you use Dreamweaver as your development environment because of its great use of positioning.

I would expect to see multiple examples of the following concepts used in this site;

  1. External style sheets as appropriate
  2. Internal style sheets as appropriate
  3. In-line styles as appropriate
  4. The use of positioning and layering throughout the site for content control
  5. Multiple examples of DHTML, you have written, used to enhance the user experience
  6. Multiple examples of DHTML, you have modified, within your website that enhance the user experience
  7. Awareness of potential browser incompatibilities due to your choice of techniques
  8. Good use of Meta tags
  9. Good website organization within your development environment such as the use of folders to organize your content and images, good naming of pages and links, etc.

This is your opportunity to show what you know.

Project Presentation:

You will present your project to the class on the last couple of days.  You will have 15 minutes to present your site and respond to questions.  Your presentation should be made as if you are proposing this site to the client.  You are selling your skills and abilities to the client as well as the value of the site you have created.  Treat this opportunity as a job interview and be prepared for questions...

Grading:

This project is worth 200 total points.  Approximately 30% of your overall grade.  The total points are divided as follows:

1.  Technical issues, including appropriate use of techniques:   100 points
2.  Peer group rating based upon presentation, content and techniques:      50 points
3.  Presentation of project and responses to questions:                             50 points

Due Date:

Tuesday April 24, 2001 at the BEGINNING OF CLASS
