Final Project - Project Requirements

Objective: 
This project will allow the student to show a working knowledge of basic webpage design, HTML, and FRONTPAGE by building a multi-page commercially oriented website. The project should be selected by the student based upon their interests or for a business interest they are familiar with. This is an opportunity to create a project that can be added to a student's work portfolio that will demonstrate the student's ability and creativity using E-Commerce tools and techniques. The following lists describe the features required in the project.

PART 1.  DESIGN Features: (40 points)
This should be a 1-2 page write up covering your project. The storyboard may be hand drawn or created using one of many drawing applications. Please keep in mind that this is just a beginning framework for your project.  Your project will most likely change as you develop it.  Changes are acceptable and expected.  These changes do not have to be reflected in this document. 

  1. Objective Statement for the website as a whole. (What will it attempt to do and why?) 
  2. Website storyboard/outline of the whole website. (This may change/expand as the site is developed.)
  3. Objective Statement for each page of the website. (What will the page attempt to do and why?)
  4. Identification of Target Market for the Website. (Basic Demographics, location, special features/characteristics, etc) Discuss how these factors will influence the design of the website.

PART 2.  REQUIRED Features: (140 points)
One Home Page that can be viewed using Internet Explorer  10 points
One page with one or more forms containing the following information 
  1. One or more text input fields
  2. One or more radio buttons
  3. One or check boxes
  4. One or more drop down/Select lists
  5. One or more Text areas
10 points
One page containing the following features 
  1. An image map with one or more appropriate hotspots
  2. Links from those hotspots to other pages, bookmarks or sites
10 points
TWO Additional Pages that can viewed using Internet Explorer 20 points 
(10 points each)
Working navigational structure linking all pages  25 points
Use of background color, texture or image applied to site 10 points
One or more Images used on site (other than image map)  5 points
Use of one or more tables  10 points
Font/Text Formatting - color fonts, different fonts , bold, italics, underline  5 points
1 Email hyperlink to your DMACC or other email account  5 points
One or more hyperlinks to other websites  5 points
One or more hyperlinks to Bookmarks on same page and/or other pages 5 points
One or more hyperlinks to other pages on same site  5 points
All web files stored in a single web folder stored on a server  5 points
An Image Link to another page or website 5 points
Use of a bulleted or Numbered list 5 points
TOTAL POINTS  140 Points

OPTIONAL Features: (20 points maximum)
Each Additional Page with Objective Statement (up to 2) 5 points per
Use 1 or more special features such as hover buttons, marquées, borders, themes, etc. 5 point 
Other special effects or web site enhancements 5 points 
A Hit Counter  5 points
Background Music / Audio Content 5 points
Animated Graphic on site  5 points

PART 3.  WEBSITE PRESENTATION: ( 20 points)


Project Grade:
When your project is complete please turn in a diskette containing your project web folder. The project is based upon 200 points.  The project grade is based upon the following scale.

20% Part 1.  Design Features                                 (40 points)
70% Part 2.  Technical Features                             (140 points)
10% Part 3.  Website Demonstration to Class     (20 points)
