OBJECTIVES:

This course is designed to help you become knowledgeable and comfortable with the basics concepts of Accounting.  It will provide you with the knowledge of how to apply accounting concepts to business applications and use that knowledge in a business setting.

I. ATTENDANCE:

This class schedule includes classroom time for the presentation and discussion of material. Students are expected to have completed any assigned readings in preparation for class and be prepared to discuss the assigned material. Attendance is encouraged and expected.

II. ASSIGNMENTS:

  • There will be assigned exercises or problems for each chapter. 
  • Each exercise/problem for the chapter will be worth 10 points.
  • Each exercise/problem will be given a DUE DATE when assigned.
  • Late exercises/problems will not be accepted, without prior approval. 

III.  QUIZZES:

  • There will be 10-15 Quizzes worth 10 points each.
  • Quizzes may be announced or unannounced.
  • Quizzes may not be made up. 

IV:  EXAMS:

  • There will be 6 exams during the semester.
  • Each exam will be worth 100 points.
  • NO MAKEUP EXAMS WILL BE GIVEN WITHOUT PRIOR APPROVAL FROM THE INSTRUCTOR.

V.  FINAL:

  • There will be a comprehensive Final.
  • The Final will be worth 100 points.

VI.  COURSE GRADE:

The Final Course grade will be determined by combining your grades based upon the following: 
Assignments 10%
Quizzes 10%
Exams 60%
Final 20%

The grading scale is as follows: 90% AND ABOVE = A, 80% to 89% = B, 70% to 79%= C, 60% to 69 = D, 59% AND BELOW = F.   Pluses and minuses will be used at the instructor's discretion.

VII. CHEATING AND PLAGIARISM

Engaging in any form of cheating or plagiarism on an assignment, test, quiz or project will result in a ZERO grade for that particular assignment. These acts are considered academic misconduct by the college and various disciplinary actions may be taken.

VIII.     This syllabus is tentative and the instructor reserves the right to make changes during the course of the semester.
