Week Seven- Housing

→ Monday

Today we completed reading, vocabulary, and listening activities in Standout, pp. 81-83. We began working on a housing-related writing assignment. Students should choose a topic involving housing and write a paragraph about it. Throughout the week, we’ll be learning various techniques to develop our ideas into a paragraph. Today we learned the prewriting technique of listing, which is a way of generating ideas. We also continued our discussion of prepositions.

→ Tuesday

We completed a housing worksheet from Standout, using this assignment to practice speaking and grammar. I handed out a study guide for Quiz 3, which will happen Friday (copies of the guide in the class binder). We continued our writing project with another prewriting activity. We also practiced conversation and prepositions.

→ Wednesday

We met in the computer lab today and completed Computer Assignment 6. After this, we met in the classroom for a writing lesson on topic sentences and more discussion of prepositions.

→ Thursday

Today we did speaking, grammar, and vocabulary activities in Standout, pp. 84-86. We also discussed expressions from Idiom Handout 2 and did a Quiz 3 review activity in groups.

→ Friday

In class today we practiced forming sentences using causative verbs. We discussed yesterday’s review game. (Congratulations to Hossein, Sang-Min, Yunmi, and Sara H. for winning!) We completed preposition exercises, and then we took Quiz 3. Finally, we had a writing lesson on outlining.
