An open-book comprehensive final exam will be given on Monday, April 30, 2007 at 8:00 AM in our regular classroom.

Textbooks & Materials

Required textbooks

Calculus, Early Transcendental Functions, 4th edition, Larson, Hostetler, and Edwards.

Additional materials

A graphing calculator is strongly recommended, but not required.

Course Policies

Instruction

Instruction will consist of lectures and in-class group learning exercises.  You will also be expected to present selected solutions on the blackboard.

Homework

Homework will be assigned and collected on a regular basis.  Assignments must meet the following criteria for full credit:

1.      Turned in on time.

2.     Must be both neat (by any reasonable college standard) and complete.

3.     Done on loose leaf paper; NO spiral bound edges!!

4.     Stapled; NO paper clips or folded corners.

Approximately 2 – 4 homework assignments will be dropped when calculating your final homework grade.

Quizzes

Short quizzes will be given on a regular basis.  Unless otherwise stated, quizzes will be given on Friday of each week.  Quizzes cannot be taken early nor can they be made up after their regular time.  At least one quiz will be dropped when calculating your final quiz grade.  Quizzes will be done in groups with books and notes as available resources.

Hour exams

Approximately 4 to 5 one-hour exams will be given during the semester.  These exams will be announced with approximately one week’s notice.  See the exam make-up policy below.  Books, notes, and groups are not available for these exams.

Missed exams

If you miss a regularly scheduled hour exam you have two options for making up the exam.  You can take the exam within two class meetings or you can take the exam during the final two weeks of the semester.  Make your choice of arrangements with me in person.  If you know ahead of time that you will be absent on the day of an exam you can make arrangements to take the test early.

Attendance

Attendance is not taken nor is it computed directly as part of your grade.
