Mechanical/Electrical

Office hours - 7:30 am - 4 pm, Monday -Friday
964-6257

Our main responsibility on a daily basis is to maintain and repair all existing interior and exterior electrical, plumbing, heating and cooling lines, compressed air utilities, temperature controls, building air distribution units, exhaust fans, chillers, boilers and respond to emergency calls during and after hours for all DMACC Campuses. We're also involved in all major remodeling projects from design to completed installation.

This department starts at 6 am to ensure all heating and/or cooling equipment has started and is operating correctly. During the day, our energy management system monitors and makes adjustments to maintain a temperature setting for an area in a building on all DMACC Campuses. This system is monitored by our Systems Analyst on a 24/7 basis. Areas that have been determined as critical will email designated cell phones carried by Mechanical/Electrical, System Analyst, and the after hours on-call person. During normal working hours (7:30 am - 4 pm) we could receive up to 40 calls ranging from hot/cold, lighting problems, water leaks, plugged drains, stools/urinals plugged or overflowing, clocks not working properly, no electric, burning smells, no water, loud noises, no hot water, ice machine not working, elevators not working and more, for all DMACC Campuses.

Someone is on-call during non-working hours and can be reached by cell phone at 515-250-5914.

Department Projects

This department also works on other projects for all DMACC Campuses ranging from installing new outside lighting, installing electrical circuits and new plumbing in restrooms of buildings being remodeled, aeration pumps in the lake, replacing new roof-top heating/cooling units, air compressors for temperature control, emergency water main repairs and locating underground utilities.
