DBR to Announce New
Leadership/Teambuilding Program If there’s one thing that will bring people together, it’s food. On March 19, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. in the afternoon, 15 brave DMACC staff members ventured into the culinary kitchen's at the Iowa Culinary Institute on DMACC campus for an experiential leadership/teambuilding adventure. The team successfully planned and prepared a culinary feast. The Corporate Team Cuisine experiential program is a fun and effective way to bring your team together on an even playing field to experience the ingredients of organizational success. Participants bond as a group and learn more about each other while planning, preparing, cooking and dining together. This program offers an opportunity for the group’s dynamics to be examined and evaluated under controlled conditions. Every group develops a distinct personality of it’s own. How does your team function, make decisions, solve problems, communicate, plan and eat? How does it deal with mistakes? What are it’s unique strengths and weaknesses? How do you adapt to change? The Corporate Team Cuisine experiential program helps you to answer these questions in a safe environment where you can explore, take risks, try new ideas, and make mistakes, while preparing a gourmet meal. To learn more about this program, contact Melissa Chavas at 515-964-6407 or e-mail at mkchavas@dmacc.edu for more information.

COMING THIS FALL… Project Management Basics…"Lessons from the Streets" This course will provide students with the knowledge and tools necessary to manage small to medium sized projects based on real world experience. In addition, there will be opportunities for mentoring and honing soft skills through the use of simulations. Participants will be divided into teams and follow a simulated project from the Initiation phase through Closing. Students will create the actual project management deliverables and participate in mock project meetings. Random elements of risk, issues, and change will be introduced so the students can actively participant in managing and communicating these elements that occur in the “real world”. Call Joyce Smith, DMACC, 964-6214 or email jnsmith@dmacc.edu for details. |
