All of the community colleges in Iowa are participating in a joint project to develop common numbers for all of our courses. Because of this initiative, all of our course subject names and most of our course numbers at DMACC changed effective fall semester, 2006. This page will help you find the new course subject names and the new numbers

Course: Architectural Millwork

MLW 440 - Blueprint Reading and Layout
Credits: 3 (includes lab)
An introduction to blueprint reading and layout and the application of this knowledge with the use of specific tools.

MLW 441 - Material Identification/Usage
Credits: 3 (includes lab)
An introduction to the materials used in making architectural millwork products.

MLW 442 - Introduction to Portable Tools
Credits: 3 (includes lab)
An introduction to safe use and the proper care and selection of power tools.

MLW 443 - Stationary Equipment
Credits: 4 (includes lab)
The purpose of this course is to train the student in the identification, operation and the maintenance of stationary equipment.

MLW 444 - Advanced Equipment Techniques
Credits: 3 (includes lab)
Advanced Equipment Techniques gives the student the opportunity to become proficient on the following equipment and associated software: CNC router operation and programming; Point to Point Machine Center operation and programming; Molder operation including template making, setup and maintenance; Beam saw programming, operation and maintenance; Edgebander operation programming and maintenance. Prerequisite: MLW 440, MLW 441, MLW 442 and MLW 443

MLW 445 - Millimeter Cabinet Tech
Credits: 3 (includes lab)
This course is an introduction to the rationale of cabinet making and millwork. Prerequisite: MLW 440, 441, 442, 443

MLW 446 - Millwork Techniques
Credits: 4 (includes lab)
An introduction to the initial steps of applying various millwork techniques to projects. Prerequisite: MLW 440, 441, 442, 443

MLW 447 - Introduction to Application
Credits: 3 (includes lab)
This course will allow students to begin combining their knowledge of the previous courses in Architectural Millwork to produce mock up projects. Prerequisite: MLW 440, 441, 442, 443

MLW 448 - Adv Millwork Application I
Credits: 5 (includes lab)
This course will combine the skills learned from the previous courses to begin producing completed projects. Prerequisite: MLW 444, 445, 446, 447

MLW 449 - Adv Millwork Application II
Credits: 5 (includes lab)
This course will combine the students' previous courses to produce a completed project from beginning to installation. Prerequisite: MLW 448
