Continuing Education/RV Training Course
Are
you having problems backing your fifth wheel camper or you're
considering purchasing a motor home but have some safety concerns
about driving a recreational vehicle. Well, DMACC has a special
program to help you. DMACC's offers a Recreational Vehicle
Safety and Education program.
The cost is $325 for the 16 hour course, however, your spouse encouraged to attend at no additional cost. The cost includes the class, materials, an R.V. inspection and a day of driving/backing with an experienced R.V. owner.
DMACC also offers a one day 8 hour driving course. The cost is $200 and your spouse is encouraged to attend at no additional cost. The class includes an R.V. inspection and a day of driving/backing with an experienced R.V. instructor.
In the program, instructors guide R.V. owners, or those considering purchasing an R.V., through an eight-hour in-house class.
Topics discuss include:
- defensive driving principles,
- common driver errors,
- potential hazardous situations,
- vehicle control,
- night driving,
- R.V. emergency and accident scene reporting procedures,
- backing maneuvers,
- use of mirrors when backing,
- steering while backing,
- R.V. troubleshooting
- and more.
In addition to the eight hours of classroom instruction, all participants will spend a full day driving and backing their R.V.'s, as well as receiving an R.V. inspection.
"No matter how much you think you know about your recreational vehicle, there are many safety factors that can be learned that could possibly save your life or someone else's life or prevent a serious accident. Things we discuss in class could help prevent an outing from turning into a disaster."
DMACC's R.V. Safety and Education Program is one of the first in the nation and is considered a model program being looked at by other colleges.
