Steve Wozniak, Co-Founder of Apple Computer

If there is one person who might be able to take credit for initiating the personal computer revolution, it would be Steve Wozniak (known affectionately as Woz). After revealing his first computer—a crude, but reliable machine—at Silicon Valley's Homebrew Computer Club in 1976, Woz, along with Steve Jobs, launched Apple Computer, Inc. with its first product, the Apple I. He soon followed with the Apple II, a well-designed machine that brought computers to the desks of average people.

As Robert Cringely observed in Accidental Empires (1996), "Steve Wozniak deserved to be considered Apple's number one employee. From a technical standpoint, Woz literally was Apple Computer." Today, Wozniak spends his time as a philanthropist, speaker, and advisor for technology start-ups. In 2009 he appeared as a contestant on Dancing with the Stars (ABC), and in 2010 Woz guest-starred as himself on The Big Bang Theory (CBS).

Dr. David Gallo, Oceanographer, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution

For the past 25 years, David Gallo has stood at the forefront of ocean exploration. A participant in expeditions to each of the world's oceans, he was one of the first scientists to use a combination of robots and submarines to create detailed maps of deep-sea mountain ranges. As Director of Special Projects at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI), he served recently as co-expedition leader of a mapping mission to the RMS Titanic and as co-leader of the successful search for the missing aircraft Air France 447.

Gallo remains passionate about exploring planet Earth and the relationship between humanity and the sea. An internationallyacclaimed lecturer, he has participated in numerous documentaries and news programs, including CNN's Larry King Live, Bloomberg TV, and the PBS program Need to Know. He is currently featured in the History Channel television series Underwater Universe.

Fritz Maytag, Anchor Brewing Company and Maytag Dairy Farms

After his revival of Anchor Steam beer as part of the Anchor Brewing Company in San Francisco, Fritz Maytag inspired many other brewers to follow his lead and is often considered the father of modern microbreweries. Maytag currently serves as chairman of Maytag Dairy Farms, Inc. in Newton, Iowa, and as owner of York Creek Vineyards in St. Helena, California.

A graduate of Stanford University, Maytag was named the seventh-most fascinating entrepreneur "for setting limits" in the 2005 Inc. article, "The 26 Most Fascinating Entrepreneurs." The great-grandson of Maytag Corporation founder Frederick Louis Maytag I, Maytag was born and raised in Newton, Iowa.
