The Boone Community
The
Boone area offers a wealth of attractions. Founded by Captain
Nathan Boone, youngest son of frontiersman Daniel Boone, it is the
birthplace of Mamie Doud Eisenhower, as well as the site of the
well-known story of Kate Shelley; it is also the home of the
Boone and Scenic Valley Railroad. We're proud to be part of

Many Web pages are devoted to the heroic story of Kate Shelley, the young girl who saved a train. Her story is told at a Chicago and North Western Railroad site. The Kate Shelley museum in Moingona is right outside Boone.
