DMACC Women Finish Third in Own Invitational
The Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) women’s golf team closed out the fall portion of its season with a third place finish at the DMACC Invitational Sept. 29, at Cedar Pointe Golf Course in Boone.
Mandy Kohlhaas, a sophomore from Lu Verne, led the Bears to a 18-hole score of 373 with a 90 on rounds of 45-45. DMACC finished 31 strokes behind Iowa Western Community College’s winning total of 354. Iowa Lakes Community College was second at 371.
“We’ve been a little inconsistent with things during the fall,” DMACC coach Larry Briley said. “We’ll have individual workouts during the offseason and try to clean up a few things.”
Other DMACC scores included a 92 by sophomore Ashley Nielsen of Spirit Lake, a 95 from sophomore Kenidy Eckermen of Carroll, a 96 by freshman Staci Hillygus of Marshalltown and a 101 by freshman Ashley Bloemendaal of Rock Rapids.
Anna Hoss, a freshman from Spirit Lake, and Anna Rinehart, a freshman from Ogden, also played in the tournament and shot rounds of 99 and 100 respectively.
Brittany Livengood of Iowa Western took medalist honors with an 81.
