McKowen Named Basketball Athlete of the Week

Second year Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) women’s basketball player Brittney McKowen of Fairbank has been named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Basketball Athlete of the Week.
McKowen was a Second Team All-State selection, a First Team All-District player, a two time All-Conference selection and the second all time leading scorer at her high school while playing at Wapsie Valley High School in Fairbank.
During DMACC’s 83 to 49 victory over Southeastern Community College, McKowen had 14 points, two assists and two steals. She also had 19 points, three rebounds and a steal in the helping the DMACC Bears in their 75 to 27 win against AIB.
McKowen continues to excel on the court and in the classroom. She maintains a 3.75 grade point average and hopes to continue her education and basketball career at a four-year school.
