Kayla Koeppen signs to play Basketball at DMACC

Des Moines East High School basketball player Kayla Koeppen has signed a national letter of intent to play basketball at the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) Boone Campus.

Koeppen is a 5’ 8” guard who was a two-year starter for Des Moines East under Coach Sam Powell. The team went 34-9 and advanced to the state tournament in 2007 with Koeppen as a starter. She was named to the second Team All-CIML. She averaged 6.8 points and 2.7 rebounds per game.

Koeppen received the Iron Scarlet Team Award for displaying the best mental and physical toughness on the Des Moines East team. She also received an Academic Team Award for excellence in the classroom.

“Kayla is an effort player,” said DMACC Head Women’s Basketball Coach Steve Krafcisin. “She gives 100 percent both on and off the floor. She is a terrific teammate who makes people around her better. I feel her best basketball is ahead of her. Kayla is an excellent addition to our team and I’m very happy that she chose DMACC.”
