The DMACC women’s basketball team ran its season record to 18-4 with a 64-43 win over Marshalltown Community College (MCC) February 4 at Marshalltown.
The win was the fifth straight for the Bears, who are ranked 15th in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II poll. DMACC improved to 7-2 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC).
Sophomores Sam Thrapp of Davenport and Joscelyn Coleman of Shenandoah led the Bears to the victory with 14 and 13 points respectively. Sophomore Ashley Hagedorn of Irwin scored eight points and freshman Jordan Wood of Monroe had eight points and a team-high 11 rebounds. DMACC had a 42-41 advantage on the boards.
DMACC rolled to a 33-21 advantage at halftime and maintained a double-digit lead throughout the second half. The Bears never allowed MCC to get closer than 10 points in the final 20 minutes.
Thrapp dished out a team-high five assists and Hagedorn led DMACC to a 21-13 advantage in steals with five. Sophomore Ann Walker of Exira and Wood had four steals apiece.
DMACC travels to Estherville to face Iowa Lakes Community College (ILCC) on Feb. 8. Game time is 5:30 p.m. The Bears defeated the Lakers 68-32 earlier this season.
