Freshman Joscelyn Coleman of Shenandoah has been named Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Athlete of the Week for women’s basketball for the week of November 10.
In her first game as a member of the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) women’s basketball team, Coleman, a forward, scored 13 points, grabbed seven rebounds, dished out three assists and had three steals as the Bears defeated the University of Sioux Falls junior varsity 97-61.
DMACC faced the William Penn College junior varsity in its second game and Coleman helped the Bears to an 84-44 win with 11 points and six rebounds.
Through the first two games of the season, Coleman, a graduate of Essex High School, averaged 12 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.5 steals. She also shot 70 percent from the field (7-of-10) and 80 percent from the free throw line (10-of-12).
Coleman is majoring in Dental Hygiene at DMACC.
