Katlyn WoodKatlyn Wood, a 6’ 0” forward from Prairie City Monroe (PCM) High School, has signed a National Letter of Intent to play basketball for Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC). Wood (center) signs her letter with DMACC Head Women’s Basketball Coach Steve Krafcisin, and her parents Dan and Laurie Wood.

Wood averaged 13.8 points and a team high seven rebounds per game while leading the Mustangs to a sub-state appearance and a 21-3 record.

Wood was a unanimous two time All Conference selection and was twice named to the All-District and All-Regions teams. In addition, she was an Iowa Girls Coaches Association Third Team selection as a junior and a Second Team selection as a senior. She was also selected to the 2009 Gatorade All-Star Game.

She also excels in the classroom. Wood has been on the honor roll every semester of high school and has been a member of the National Honor Society for three years.

“I’m excited to add Katlyn to our basketball team,” said DMACC Coach Krafcisin. “Katlyn is an excellent player who can score in so many ways and may be the best frontcourt passer I have recruited during my time at DMACC. Katlyn comes from a basketball family and we are thrilled to have Katlyn choose DMACC.”

Wood is the daughter of Laurie and Dan Wood of Monroe.
