Caitlin Axland, a 5’ 9” guard from I-K-M High School, has signed a National Letter of Intent to play basketball for Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC).
Axland averaged 10.2 points per game and was a key player in helping the I-K-M Wolves advance to the Class 2A State Basketball Championship and a 26-2 record.
Axland was selected to the All Area Second Team and was named to the All West Valley Conference Honorable Mention Team. She was also voted the offensive player of the year by her teammates.
“Caitlin is terrific perimeter player,” said DMACC Head Women’s Basketball Coach Steve Krafcisin. “She can put pressure on the defensive with her ability to shoot and attack the basket. Caitlin anticipates very well on defensive and is physically capable of being a very good defensive player. Coming from a state championship team, Caitlin know what it takes to succeed and I am very happy that she chose DMACC.”
Axland is the daughter of Tracy Axland and Lance Axland, both of Irwin.
