Buchmann to Play Volleyball at DMACC

Jamie Buchanan

Sioux City Bishop Heelan Catholic High School senior Jamie Buchmann (second from left) signs a national letter of intent to play volleyball next year at DMACC. Those taking part in the signing ceremony include: Jamie’s mom, Jacque Yaneff (left to right); Heelan Head Volleyball Coach Lori Slight and DMACC Head Volleyball Coach Patty Harrison.

Buchmann has been a defensive specialist for Heelan, which was the runner-up in the state tournament this past year.

Buchanan was also on a high school club team and was a National Club

Qualifier for Nebraska Impact, as well as a ninth place tie in the Northern Lights Qualifier the past two years as part of Impact.

“Jamie has the defensive prowess that we welcome at the community college level,” said DMACC Head Volleyball Coach Patty Harrison. “Her skills will definitely benefit the DMACC volleyball program in the fall.”

Buchmann joins the Bears, who have advanced to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II National Volleyball Tournament for the past four consecutive years. The Bears finished fifth in the 2009 national tournament and finished the season with a 44-9 overall record.
