The Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) women’s volleyball team closed the regular season with a 3-0 win against North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) Oct. 27 at the DMACC gymnasium.
The victory gave the Bears a 25—14 record for the season. DMACC closed the campaign with a seven-match winning streak and a 21-4 in games played in those seven matches. The Bears were 15-1 in games played in their last five matches.
Sophomore Christian Richter of Bancroft led DMACC with 13 kills and two service aces and sophomore Mikayla Overturf of Nora Springs added 11 kills. Freshman Tiffany Bormann of Preston had three blocks and two service aces and sophomore Natalie Weis finished with 33 assists and two service aces. Freshman Jamie Buchmannn of Sioux City led the Bears in digs with 10 and also contributed two service aces.
DMACC is idle until Nov. 5 when it travels to Mason City for the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XI-B Tournament. The Bears are the No. 2 seed and will play Southeastern Community College at 7 p.m. at the NIACC gymnasium.
