Ashley Bayer Commits to Eastern Kentucky Univeristy

Ashley Bayer

DMACC women's volleyball player Ashley Bayer has given a verbal commitment to play for the Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) Colonels 2007 class. Bayer of Albia, IA, will have two years of eligibility remaining for the EKU Colonels.

“To go from first team All Conference at Eddyville/Blakesburg High School in Eddyville to first team All-Region in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC), NJCAA First Team All-American and NJCAA National Tournament – All Tournament Team is a testament to her and what she can accomplish,” said Patty Harrison, DMACC Women’s Head Volleyball Coach.

Bayer, who was recruited heavily coming out of high school, chose DMACC over Indian Hills and Ellsworth Community College. “This is a great thing for DMACC and the Lady Bears Volleyball program that a young woman’s dreams of continuing her education at a great university and playing NCAA D1 volleyball on an athletic scholarship can come true at DMACC,” Harrison said.

“Ashley has a hard work ethic, strong sense of determination, a fiery spirit on the court and a fierce desire to play Division I volleyball and DMACC is proud to be a part of her accomplishment. EKU is getting an excellent student and quality individual,” Harrison said.
