Madison Mickelson Play Softball at DMACC

“We are very excited to have Madison join our Legacy team at DMACC,” DMACC softball coach Bob Ligouri said. “She is an outstanding softball player and comes highly recommended by Gary Gorman, her high school coach. She will be a great fit with the culture of our program in that she is not only a talented softball player, but she is an outstanding team leader, team-first player and is committed to serving her community.”

Mickelson, a catcher and an infielder, completed the 2011 season with a .436 batting average. She had a .534 on-base percentage and a .691 slugging percentage. She hit six home runs and drove in 30 runs. Defensively, Mickelson had a .972 fielding average.

Mickelson was a five-year softball letter winner at Ames High. She captained the 2011 team and helped the Little Cyclones to within one game of the Class 4A State Softball Tournament. She capped the season by being named to the Central Iowa Metro League (CIML) First Team and also earned first-team all-district honors in Class 4A. Mickelson was named her team’s best offensive player and also earned the coaches award.

Mickelson plans to major in pre-physical therapy at DMACC.
