The 2007-08 All-American teams have been released by the National Junior College Athletic Association and Des Moines Area Community College’s (DMACC) Grant Burns has been named to the Second Team. Burns, a 5’8’’ sophomore from Monroe, IA, led the #7 DMACC Bears to a 24-6 overall record an 11-3 conference record and led DMACC to Regional Semifinals. In two seasons at DMACC, Burns has rewritten the record books in several categories: assists in one game (18 vs. Cloud County, 12-7-07), assists in one season (271), assists in two seasons (515), steals in one season (99), steals in two seasons (184), and was part of the team that tied the school record in wins (31). He has also had many accolades while in a Bear uniform. During his freshman season, he was named Second Team All-Conference, Region XI Tournament MVP, and was named the NJCAA National Tournament “Best Small Man.” During his sophomore season, along with being named and All-American, he was First Team All-Conference, and was named the ICCAC Player of the Week for the week of January 2-8. During his time at DMACC, he led the Bears to a 55-11 overall record and was 22-5 in the ICCAC and was second in the conference standings both years, was ranked in the NJCAA Division II poll every week and was as high as #1 during his freshman season.
