DMACC's Austin Urban Named Baseball Athlete of the Week
The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) freshman Austin Urban Division II Baseball Athlete of the Week for the week of May 1.
Urban, a freshman from Johnstown, Penn., pitched a complete game as DMACC defeated Kirkwood Community College (KCC) 6-2 in the first game of a doubleheader on May 1. He gave up two runs on nine hits, struck out six and walked one. Only one of the two runs surrendered by Urban was earned.
On the season, Urban is 4-4 with a 4.14 earned run average. He has thrown 54.1 innings and has allowed 37 runs on 43 hits. Only 25 of the runs scored against Urban are earned. He leads the team in strikeouts with 67 and has issued 35 walks. Opposing teams are hitting .213 against Urban.
Urban plans to complete his two-year career at DMACC and then transfer to a four-year institution.
