The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) sophomore Dylan Thomas of Lakeville, Minn., its baseball Athlete of the Week for the week of April 18.
Thomas, a pitcher, helped the Bears win two games last week. On April 12, Thomas allowed two runs on seven hits, struck out eight and walked three as the Bears defeated Indian Hills Community College (IHCC) 8-2.
On April 17, Thomas relieved DMACC starter Drew Freie of Wilton in the third inning and allowed one hit and struck out three over three and a third innings as the Bears came back from a 6-0 deficit to defeat Ellsworth Community College (ECC) 8-6.
Thomas improved to 5-2 with wins in both games. He has an earned run average of 4.58. For the season, Thomas has thrown 39 1/3 innings, allowing 27 runs, including 20 earned runs, on 41 hits. He has walked 16 batters and struck out 43. Opposing hitters are batting .263 against Thomas.
Thomas plans to continue his education and baseball career at a four-year institution.
