Learning Communities 1999—Present
Chair of the institutional task force designed to study, develop, and implement a
pilot program for learning communities. In the spring 2001 semester, “DMACC
Connections,” an opportunity for students to “turn their commuting experience
into a community experience” was piloted with three communities. New communities
have been added each semester.
Faculty Advising 1997—Present
Co-Coordinator of an effective faculty advising program that was developed and
initiated in 1997. Coordinate adviser training program. Conduct seminars for
developing ally relations for gay and lesbian students. Teach First-Year Success
Seminars and advise students. Represent DMACC at regional and national
advising institutes and conferences.

Current Professional Writing Trends
Twelve-hour, hands-on computer and writing seminar for local corporations. The
course teaches document design and writing trends in the workplace. Regular
sessions conducted for corporate “universities” at Maytag Corporation, Pioneer
Hybrid International, and Vermeer Corporation.
