COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course is an introduction to
SQL as a database programming language to those already familiar with basic
relational database concepts. Students will write executable SQL statements to
create and maintain database objects. Data definition (DDL), data manipulation
(DML), and data control (DCL) will be covered.
It uses Oracle Academic Initiative materials and is intended to help
students prepare for the Oracle Certification exam (1Z0-007).
COURSE FORMAT:
Students will be expected to read
the chapter(s) in their textbook prior to the discussion of them in class.
In addition to the lectures,
quizzes, assignments and lab exams will be utilized to develop your database
programming skills.

- The best 20 scores between assignments and quizzes will be used.
Due dates, quiz dates, exam dates, etc. will be

make-up provisions for missed quizzes / exams.

Your total points will be divided by the maximum
possible points. The resulting percentage translates to the following letter
grade:

EXTRA CREDIT:
There are no opportunities to earn extra credit
points at this time.
ATTENDANCE:
Attendance is expected and recommended. There is a
direct correlation between good attendance and good grades.
Due to financial aid reporting requirements,
attendance will be recorded at the start of class.
If you are absent from class, it is your
responsibility to get class notes and announcements from other students.
Please feel no obligation to explain the reasons for
your classroom absences.

Cheating constitutes academic misconduct. Please see me if you are tempted to engage in
