She works at Marsden part-time doing house cleaning. Eventually, she wants to find a different job. In her spare time, she likes to sew a lot. She sews kids’ clothing and many other things. She is very proud that she has gone back to school to learn. She is also proud that she has earned her U.S. citizenship. Her goal is to do well in school, and, when she finishes school, to visit her country.

Maria is from San Miguel, El Salvador. She has been living in Iowa for three years. In her spare time, she likes to ride bikes and walk with her dog “Bear.” She works three days a week as a baby-sitter for two adorable kids. She comes from a family of five, her father Felix, her sister Estela, and her two brothers, Felix Junior and Jose. She is proud of the English skills she has gained here in the U.S. Her goal is to finish college and become a teacher.

She is currently a hair stylist, but she would like to study something related to atomic chemistry or art history.
