Sophomore Ashley Hagedorn of Irwin scored 22 points to lead the DMACC women’s basketball team to an 80-65 win over Iowa Central Community College (ICCC) January 28 at the DMACC gymnasium.
ICCC came into the game at 18-2 overall and 5-1 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCC). The Tritons are ranked third in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II poll.
Sophomores Joscelyn Coleman of Shenandoah and Sam Thrapp of Davenport added 13 points each to the DMACC attack and sophomore Ann Walker of Exira scored 10 points. The Bears improved to 16-4 overall and 5-2 in the ICCAC with their third straight win and their ninth win in their last 10 games.
Hagedorn was nine-of-13 from the field, including four-of-six from three-point range in leading DMACC to the win. She also had four steals. Freshman Jordan Wood of Monroe scored eight points and pulled down seven rebounds for the Bears and Coleman and Thrapp had six and five rebounds respectively. Thrapp and Walker dished out five assists apiece and Thrapp added five steals. Sophomore Lacy Stevenson of Knoxville scored nine points on three-of-eight shooting from three-point range. As a team, DMACC was 10-of-21 from beyond the arc. The Bears, who led 39-38 at halftime, had a 17-4 advantage in steals and committed 14 turnovers to 25 for ICCC.
DMACC travels to Iowa Falls to face Ellsworth Community College (ECC) on February 1. Game time is 5:30 p.m.
