Sophomore Joscelyn Coleman of Shenandoah scored 18 points and hauled down 11 rebounds to lead the DMACC women’s basketball team to a 73-57 win over North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) January 21 at Mason City.
The win was the Bears’ seventh in their past eight games and gives them a 14-4 record for the season. DMACC improved to 3-2 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC).
The Bears led 38-30 at halftime and maintained their advantage throughout the second half. Sophomore Sam Thrapp of Davenport added 14 points to the DMACC attack and freshman Jordan Wood of Monroe of Monroe scored 10 points. Sophomore Ashley Hagedorn of Irwin finished with nine points and sophomores Ann Walker of Exira and Carrie Wood of Martensdale rounded out DMACC’s balanced attack with eight points apiece
Coleman’s 11 rebounds helped the Bears to a 43-34 advantage in rebounding. Jordan Wood came away with seven rebounds and Hagedorn added six rebounds. Thrapp was three-of-five from three-point range and dished out four assists.
DMACC is home to Marshalltown Community College (MCC) on January 25. Game time is 5:30 p.m.
