Post Date: June 22, 2009

Jordyn Smedley, a 5’ 10” forward from Waterloo East High School, has signed a National Letter of Intent to play basketball for Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC).

Smedley averaged 10.7 points and 10 rebounds per game for the East High Trojans that were coached by Ed Madlock.  She led the team in scoring and rebounding during her senior season and was second in the Mississippi Valley Conference in free throw attempts (131) in 20 games.

Smedley was a First Team All-Metro (Waterloo-Cedar Falls) selection and named to the All-Mississippi Valley Conference Second Team.

“Jordyn is an excellent addition to our team and school,” said DMACC Head Women’s Basketball Coach Steve Krafcisin.  “Jordyn is a physical forward who is very comfortable facing the basket.  She attacks the basket and loves to rebound.”

Smedley is the daughter of Mary Smedley of Waterloo.
