Norwalk High School senior Tori Mateer (front row, center) signs a national letter of intent to play volleyball next year at Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC). Mateer, was a three-year letter winner at Norwalk. She was named to the Iowa Girls Coaches Association All-District Volleyball Team as a senior, Little Hawkeye Conference (LHC) First Team during her senior year and Second Team during her junior year. She was named to the LHC Academic All-Conference team every year as a high school student.
Mateer is a versatile athlete who lettered in basketball for three years and has lettered in track and softball three times each through her junior year. She has been named to the LHC All-Conference Honorable Mention Team in basketball and has been a state qualifier in track as a freshman, sophomore and junior.
She has also been an Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union (IGHSAU) Excellence in Academics Award recipient.
“Tori has the skill level and quickness that will benefit the Bears right away,” said DMACC Head Volleyball Coach Patty Harrison. “Her athletic versatility and excellence in the classroom are terrific attributes that Tori will bring to our program.”
Mateer joins the Bears, who have advanced to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II National Volleyball Tournament four of the last five years. The Bears had a 26-15 overall record in 2010.
