“My coaching philosophy stems from a very basic understanding of a solid work ethic and strong fundamental skills," Harrison says. "I feel that nothing is achieved without hard work, commitment, and sacrifice. I believe that you need high expectations of yourself and your team in order to achieve success. This is what I bring to DMACC volleyball as we move our program in a positive direction."
Harrison is unafraid of the hard work that will be required to achieve that long-term goal. Hard work is what Harrison-coached teams are all about. Recruiting is a top priority for the DMACC Bears volleyball program.
A native of Lohrville, Iowa, Harrison started the Iowa Central volleyball program in 1983 and coached till 1988, compiling a winning percentage of .663. Her record includes two regional championships in 1983 and 1987. Both of those years, the Tritons qualified for the National Junior College Volleyball Championships. In 1983 and 1987, Harrison received recognition by being named District 5 coach of the year. In six years, her teams never failed to qualify for a regional tournament. Harrison's next 7 years (1998-2004) at Iowa Central compile a record of 300-181.
Harrison and her husband, Steve, have three children: Stephanie, Stacey and Cole.
