DMACC Men's Basketball Team Slips By Iowa Central CC, 64-62

Sophomore Nate Mason of Cincinnati, Ohio, led a balanced scoring attack with 15 points as the DMACC men’s basketball team defeated Iowa Central Community College (ICCC) 64-62 January 28 at the DMACC gymnasium.

Sophomores Rico Saldana of New York City, N.Y., and Cole Martin of Omaha, Neb., scored 13 points each and freshman LaTrell Visor of Aurora, Ill, had 10 points as the Bears, ranked fourth in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II poll, improved to 19-3 for the season and 5-1 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC).

ICCC, led by Robert Goffney’s 15 points, fell to 17-7 and 5-2.

DMACC trailed 31-29 at halftime, but came away with the win by hitting 13 of 27 shots in the second half, including four-of-eight from three-point range. ICCC was 11-of-26 from the field in the second half and made just one of six three-point attempts. For the game, DMACC was seven-of-14 from three-point range and the Bears connected on 13 of 17 free throw attempts, including five of seven in the second half.

ICCC had a 38-29 advantage on the boards with Saldana’s nine rebounds leading DMACC.

DMACC plays Ellsworth Community College (ECC) February 1 at Iowa Falls, Game time is 7:30 p.m.
