Adding & Dropping Courses

Students should consult with an advisor or counselor prior to making course changes to their class schedule. There are many issues to consider when making schedule changes, especially when dropping courses.

Before dropping a course…

  • Students should visit with their program advisor or counselor to discuss the possible consequences of dropping a course and to review all of their options.
  • Students should consider insurance issues affected by dropping below full-time status. Many insurance companies require students over the age of 18 to be enrolled as a full-time college student in order to stay on their parent’s insurance plan. Any student who is covered under a parent’s insurance plan should discuss these issues with the parent.
  • Students should consider a possible reduction of financial aid. Any student who is receiving financial aid should consult with a financial aid advisor to review the consequences of dropping a course.
