1:30–3 p.m. Keynote – Jim Clifton “The Coming Jobs War” and why innovation is key to success in manufacturing and Iowa’s economy.
Clifton is the creator of The Gallup Path, a metric-based economic model that establishes the linkages among human nature in the workplace, customer engagement, and business outcomes. He is also the author of many articles and of the book The Coming Jobs War.Since 1988, Jim Clifton has served as CEO of Gallup.

3:10–3:55 p.m. Closing the Manufacturing Skills Gap Jennifer McNelly, President of The Manufacturing Institute.
Access to talented individuals with a high-quality education and advanced skills is critical to manufacturers’ capacity for innovation and success. The Manufacturing Institute has responded by implementing a public-private strategy to better connect the supply of talent to employment in manufacturing. This session will provide a national context for manufacturing and the skills challenges, engage Iowa manufacturers in action and offer an opportunity to participate in a dialogue for action.
